Not Every Window is a Rectangle. Our Specialists Are.
Arches, gables, triangles, trapezoids — every non-standard opening has a considered solution.
Architecturally interesting homes almost always contain windows that defeat the standard blind catalogue. The arched head above a staircase window, the triangular gable light, the trapezoidal frame in a converted attic, the semi-circular fixed light above a front door — each is an opportunity to demonstrate the difference between installation and design. At MS Design, non-standard shapes are not a problem to be solved with a net curtain or a hastily cut fabric panel. They are precision fabrication challenges approached with site-templated, made-to-measure methodology — finished to a standard that makes the shape an asset rather than a problem.
PRODUCT DETAIL
Our process for every special shape blind begins with a physical template of the opening — taken in the customer’s home by our installation team — which is then used as the basis for exact-dimension fabrication. Arched windows are dressed using pleated systems with specially formed headrails that follow the curve of the arch, fixed top sections with operable lower portions, or tracked fabric systems that maintain tension across the full profile. Triangular and trapezoidal frames are templated and fitted with tensioned pleated or roller systems specific to the geometry. Every special shape project is treated as a bespoke commission, priced and specified individually.
Available in:
- Physical site-templating — every special shape is measured from a hand-made template, not dimensions alone, for exact fabrication
- Arched headrail profiles — custom-formed headrails follow the curve of an arch precisely for fitted pleated and fabric systems
- Tensioned roller systems for triangular openings — cable-tensioned mechanisms maintain a straight hem line across non-parallel frames
- Fixed decorative fabric panels — for high and inaccessible lights, a finished fabric covering that coordinates with the wider scheme
- Gable and dormer specialist — loft conversions and dormer windows with irregular profiles are a core area of our capability
- Roof lantern blinds — internally fitted tensioned systems for flat and pitched roof lanterns, reducing glare and solar gain at ceiling level

⚡ MOTORISATION & AUTOMATION — Where access is difficult and operation is required — a high arched window, a gable light above a mezzanine, a roof lantern — motorised pleated or roller systems are available and strongly recommended. The combination of bespoke fabrication and remote operation resolves the last remaining limitation of a special shape window entirely.
